Feeling : Satisfied |
Well, I've managed to get quite a bit done this week. The site is coming along nicely and I'm getting more and more comfortable with PHP and MySQL. Updates to the site include writing my own version of the weblog. I didn't like the layout and style of the one from WebCrimson and doing it this way have made if fit into the site better. Was tough to figure out some of the stuff at first, but it seems to be working well now. On the home front, I finally managed to get around to cutting my grass. Took me a while (letting it grow to 18 inches deep is not a good idea) but I got it done. All I have to do is get around to tidying up the borders and trimming the edges. Hopefully, I'm going to get that done this weekend. I would do it today, but after mowing my back is killing me....I still need to find a gardener.... Have a Novell knowledge share event to attend next Tuesday in Bolton. I'm going to drive up on the Monday evening and stay over, I just hope the car makes it ok. It's desparately in need of a service, vut I couldn't get it into the dealership until the Wednesday. At least I have AA cover, even if I don't make it, at least I'll get home :) Well, I suppose I'll go cook dinner..... |

Feeling : Motivated |
Well, been a quiet week this week. I finally got some holiday booked and will be off to the US at the end of this month. I'm seriously in need of this break, I need to get away from work for a while and consider where I'm heading. I'm starting to get so pissed off with things that its beginning to give me stress headaches every other night. I'm also noticing a complete lack of motivation to do anything. Still trying to get my head around PHP and MySql. I had a play around with Dreamweaver MX as that now has built in support for PHP but from what I've seen, the code is a little sloppy. I think I'm going to end up doing it by hand and making sure I understand exactly what is happening in the background. You'll know as soon as I understand enough, as this awful blog layout will be replaced by my own :) Heard from a couple of old friends this week too, complete bolts out of the blue....although after a couple of replies to e-mails they seem to have gone quiet. On the reading front, I'm really struggling with Morgawr. I'm not sure if this is because of the timespan between completeing the second book in the series and starting this one, or if its just because the book is poorly written. I may go back and read the other two and then this one immediately afterwards and see if it makes a difference....I'll let you know. The stone (http://www.thestone.com) also seems to be coming back to life lately. New puzzles seem to be going up in the immediate about every 3 days now. After my quick solving of 'Data Transfer', the next puzzle (Little Big Man) has me stumped. I only have 4 cle4ver aqnswers to go on and they don't seem to be leading me aqnywhere productive. I noticed that there is also another new dot in there now, so I better get a move on or I'll be locked out of the lodge for a while. At this rate the immediate will be finished before Christmas this year....I wonder if something will come after the immediate... Well, better get myself back to doing something productive.... PS. If anyone knows a gardener in my area that is willing to cut my lawn for a small fee....send me a mail :) |

Feeling : Ambitious |
Another Bank Holiday Weekend..... You've just gotta love this time of year four day weeks, although yet again I don't seem to have achieved a whole lot. Friday evening, I got home to find a new puzzle had appeared on the stone and was available so I set about solving that. I fully expected it to take a while given the total lack of clues in the puzzle but I soon got a few clevers and within 5 minutes the puzzle was done and dusted. I even managed to get my name on the community page as the fastest person to solve it. Watched the match on Saturday, and saw another wonderful display of football from Manchester Utd. Ruud van Nistelrooy is something else, what class. Decided not to watch the Arsenal Leeds game on Sunday but heard the news Sunday evening that Arsenal failed to win so Utd were crowned premiership champions....what a wonderful weekend :) ...And so that leaves today.... I've been trying all weekend to make some headway with the MySQL databases on this website without much progress, mainly due to a lack of enthusiasm. Maybe today will be different....right now I need to go put some coffee on and clean the kitchen up. |
