Feeling : Busy

You can probably tell by the lack of stuff appearing here I've been a little busy lately!

A few new toys have been added to the network in the house. A couple of new servers have been added, yep even more! One is for an evaluation of Novell's Groupwise 6.5, the other is a SuSE 9.0 server installation, I decided its about time I learned a little more about linux now that Novell have bought SuSE and are pushing it as a viable alternative for Microsoft crap on the desktop. I've also added a linux workstation and so far I'm impressed!

I finally got my laptop replaced, the other was just becoming unworkable...radom lockups and a completely dead battery made it less than useful. Check out the new one at http://www.adventcomputers.co.uk. Its the 7036 model.

Another thing that really pissed me off, my Linsys wireless access point/router decided to stop working...not all of it, just the wireless side of it. The thing is only about 6 months old! Not sure what the recent stuff is like, or if the quality will improve now that Cisco have bought them out, but I cenrtainly hope so, I know I won't be touching any more Linksys stuff for a while! I replaced it with a Belkin access point, decided to go for a straight access point, rather than switch/router/firewall/access point. I don't need any of the other stuff anyways. So far, the Belkin is pretty impressive, lot of features in the firmware and very easy to set up. Check it out here.

Enough rambling from me anyway, need to get on and try and do some more stuff to this website, I've been neglecting it recently...

Feeling : Undecided

Went to see Matrix Revolutions last night!

I'd really been looking forward to seeing this movie, and was hoping it might explain the second one. I won't put any spoilers here, just in case someone who hasn't seen it reads this.

On the whole, I was impressed. Its a pretty awsome movie, the only thing that spoiled it was the ending. There's also a lot to take in and I might have to watch it a couple of times more before I get my head around it all. No change there, I had to do that with Matrix Reloaded too. Definitely a movie you should go see at the cinema though, I don't think some scenes will have the same impact on a smaller screen.

Feeling : Happy!

It's been a good day!

Firstly, I ordered a new toy last Friday and it turned up this morning. I decided it was time to get a DVD writer, you just can't get enough data on those CDs anymore and they become a nightmare to store when you get a lot of them!

I decided to but the Pioneer 106 in the end, it seems to be the most popular and has very good reviews. The install went smoothly and I was happily writing DVDs within about an hour. I purchased mine online from a company call SVP, they have the cheapest price I was able to find and the service is excellent. they also do very good price on media. Check them out at http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk.

The second reason I'm happy is that I got my iPaq back today and they finally managed to fix it! They decided that since this was the third time it had been in for repair and the fault was with the screen alignment, that changing  the screen might fix it. Guess what, it did! Besides, they'd already changed every other bloody component! Love the iPaq, but HP leave a lot to be desired in the service department! Now I've just go to restore all the data on to it...
