Another month passed and another long weekend away from work....If only that were true!

As you might have noticed, updates here have been few and far between lately. This is due in no small part to the amount of work I have on right now. As always, I'm fighting a constant battle with the small-minded people who think Microsoft software is the answer to all the worlds problems (unless you have to support it, then its usually the cause of them). Along with that, I'm also still trying to get a level where I'm able to install and maintain a groupwise system, set up rsync to replicate data between servers and set up bordermanager 3.8 on my test network so everyone can have access to the DSL lines.

The other reason for a lack of updates here can be blamed on a few people I work with who thought it would be a really good idea to get me playing an online game called PlanetSide. Those of you that know me will know I used to play a MMORPG called EverQuest, and you will also know the hard time I had actually trying to stop playing this game....they don't call it evercrack for nothin. the good news is this game is no where near as addictive. This is more like Quake or Unreal, but instead of shootin bots you can shoot characters played by other real people. Affectionately known as a MMOFPS, its more a stress relieft tool than a game like everquest. There is some character development involved, but not on the level of EQ and it doesn't detract from your enjoyment of the game if your only just starting out. Check it out at http://www.planetside.com.

Well, I'm off to see if I can get more of my perl scripts working...oh yeah, did I mention that I'm learning perl too! :)

Feeling : Tired

Time for another quick update, if you hadn't guessed time is one commodity I don't have a surplus of right now.

The site migration isn't going particularly well. I was moving it from Apache 1.3 to Apache 2.0 on a NetWare 6.5 platform. I decided that would be a bit of a waste of time as my final goal was to move it to a linux server. Unfortunately I don't know nearly as much about linux as I do NetWare (one of the reasons for moving my site to it) so the move is going very slowly!

The no smoking is still going ok, although I did have a small lapse about a week ago. I decided I was going to smoke the cigarette that has been siting on my desk since I decided to quit. Don't think I'll be lighting another one in a hurry, three draws on it an I was heaving. I felt ill for hours after that...

Other than that, work is still busier than shit! Have more stuff to try and get my head around than I have hours in the day. Just to make things a little more fun, Novell release a new version of NetMail that I need to evaluate and upgrade a couple of servers to...the joys of the IT industry...still could be worse, I could be working with MicroShaft products!
