Finally everything is back up and running. The failed hard drive has been replaced and all data has been restored. Thankfully I didn't loose much and what I did loose can easily be replaced.

Not the way I envisioned spending my time off over the holiday period, but now everything is restored maybe I can get some of the things done on the website that I wanted to. Then again, maybe I won't. Not much time left before I return to work and at the moment I really can't be arsed.

It's been quite a while since I put anything up on here, and to be honest I probably wouldn't be typing this if it wasn't for a hard drive failure in one of my servers. Thankfully it wasn't the server hosting this site or the SQL server that holds the data the site uses.

So why am I sat here typing this at 2am? Because I'm bored shitless waiting for a restore job to finish. I wish for once, someone out there would actually write some decent backup software. The stuff I have has been quite reliable, but the restore of this last volume is being a real pain in the ass. For some reason the backup job is asking for about 4 different backup tapes which doesn't make much sense to me as the data should all be on the same tape. Oh well, one more tape switch and I'm gonna call it a night. It's seriously starting to piss me off.
